Oxford Genome Sciences (OGeS) offers services to customers by providing solutions through protein biomarker discovery. OGeS has a history of successful collaborations with many of the top ten pharmaceutical companies and the FDA, successfully delivering novel drug targets and biomarkers for drug development programs. Our collaborative and analytical service programs have resulted in the discovery of biomarkers that are being used in:

:: Providing an early indication of efficacy or toxicological profile of a drug candidate
:: Providing markers that give an early indication of disease more accurately than conventional tests
:: Identifying patients who may or may not respond to drug treatment
:: Discovering novel targets for drug development

OGeS offers both gel-based and gel-independent proteomic approaches in a high-throughput format resulting in the rapid discovery, validation and identification of protein biomarkers. We also offer a number of fractionation techniques that are used to explore low abundance proteins. OGeS has also developed the OGAP® database that integrates both genomic and proprietary derived proteomic data. The database contains over 1,000,000 sequenced peptides corresponding to 15,000 genes with data from 60 diseases along with information on 8 million SNPs. The OGAP® database is an exceptionally powerful tool in the biomarker discovery process as it facilitates the in silico validation and prioritization of protein biomarkers and new targets. Therefore, using the OGAP® database in protein biomarker discovery programs greatly increases the probability that candidate markers are robust and specific to a relevant condition.

Biomarkers can be rapidly validated and quantified using the powerful approach of Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) assays. Synthetic analogues of the biomarker peptide are isotope labeled and spiked into the sample and the intensity of these peptides is directly compared to the unlabelled marker for absolute quantitation.

OGeS has a number of strategic alliances where we have demonstrated that our biomarkers can be successfully validated on a secondary platform (antibody based) in a very short period of time (time from discovery to validation is typically less than 12 months).

OGeS offers both fee-for-service models for protein biomarker discovery as well as strategic milestone-driven alliances where we develop MRM or antibody based assays. Through working together with OGeS, we can improve the time and cost-efficiency of drug development programs, as well as facilitate early disease detection, prognosis and monitoring.
